comment 486 computer does not POST
@Ramhound +1 to your comment for If you have to ask if you can do it, you probably won't be able to do it.; that's exactly what I answered a couple of times to similar questions. It certainly is possible to do so (frankly, I've once soldered transformer wires with thickness of about 0.1mm with a 100W soldering gun... the transformer lives to this day; done the same trick to couple SOIC ICs, all of them still working), somebody without at least a couple of years of EE experience would probably simply spill the solder everywhere, rendering the CPU completely beyond repair in the process.

-1 you're wrong about the directory extensions; maybe it was true for CP/M (my memory is crappy about that OS), but I've been using "programm.ing" directory in my tree since DOS times, and see win.tue.nl/~aeb/linux/fs/fat/fat-1.html - directory entries are handled exactly as files, they can have 8.3 name as well. Test: create a 8.3 directory (mkdir testfile.name) and display its DOS name in Windows (dir /x) - you'll get TESTFI~1.NAM, as expected.

comment Why doesn't windows command prompt still support ctrl + v?
also, funny note: superuser.com/questions/421463/… (essentially the same question as this, but about nx) got more than 100 upvotes and tons of answers... and it didn't get closed, btw.

comment Why does Ctrl + V not paste in Bash (Linux shell)?
funny note: superuser.com/questions/675619/… (essentially the same question as this, but about Win) was closed as "primiarily opinion-based"...

@EBGreen not necessarily; you can implement Ctrl+V for paste (always) and Ctrl+C as copy (only when a block is mouse-selected) - this way, as long as you don't select any text with mouse, regular Ctrl+C for breaking is maintained (not to mention you should rather Ctrl+Break for that AFAIR due to the way keyboard interrupt works)
