comment Why is VLC slower than MPV/MPlayer?
Are they both using the same video output driver? There is a big performance difference depending on which one you pick. I don't use VLC but you can specify the VO in mplayer with -vo=driver. To see a list of drivers issue mplayer -vo help (assuming Linux the default is the one for your GPU or xv and lastly X11 IIRC). Another big difference might be framedropping. Is it enable for VLC? It'll cause... well, frame drops. It's disabled by default with mplayer.

comment Is it safe to delete appdata\local\temp?
@thomasrutter I made that remark because I remembered having issues with some software a few years ago. That was two years ago, so the issues I encountered are at least three years old. I have no idea if current software still has the practice of keeping files there, since I haven't used Windows since. It's easy to set the time restriction so I'd say better safe than sorry.

comment How to install Windows 7 to an USB HDD from Linux?
@Ƭᴇcʜιᴇ007 Apparently that answer only works for an entire disk installation... It seems the only way would be to crack open the case and pray for a SATA port to be there... So... No Windows, I guess.

@karel I'm not asking how to install Windows FROM a USB stick but TO a USB HDD.

comment How to search/replace string for the whole buffer in Emacs without going back to the beginning?
Works nicely, but screws up query-replace on region/selection (always does on the whole buffer).

comment Webcam is only recognized by some software
@0xDAFACADE It only detects the mic on the camera. I assume it's because, as I mentioned, Chromium itself seems to fail detecting the camera. Nice website btw. PS: I edited the title to not give the idea flash is the issue.

comment Remap keys without xmodmap or any X tools
Wonderful! That was exactly what I was looking for. However, as you mentioned in the comments, it's no longer the case, since I got a new notebook. I cannot test the answer, but since it's exactly what I was looking for I'm pretty sure it'd work, or at least give an alternative to xmodmap. Thanks!
