comment How can I share a screen over a flaky connection?
Okay, I can believe that, but this seems to be just restating the question. As a screensharing neophyte, I don't know what I can do to improve the upload speed at either end. Googling "troubleshoot dropped connection" and "troubleshoot upload speed" yielded only a bunch of vendor-specific help pages. Are there some steps you can recommend to explore this issue?

Ahh! Thank you for the link, Lauri. My search-fu failed me on this one. Mouseposé looks like exactly what I was looking for. Embarrassingly, I can't summarily close my own question, only vote to close it, but the linked question is equivalent.

Very meta, but I'm allowing someone else to pick the project I do (long story), so I don't think it will work out for this one. I suppose I can write something prior to starting the screencast series if I really must, but I'm still hopeful there's something out there which can be bent to this purpose...

comment Need to split stereo track, discard right channel, and remove noise
Ah, I had misunderstood how the noise profile worked. Your comment helped clear up my confusion, as did running my workflow a few times. Reusing the noise profile was indeed perfectly sufficient for all the files (since they were originally recorded at the same time, on the same equipment). After exploring sox for a few days (not continuously!), I can say: wow! Thank you for introducing me to this amazing toolkit! (And, uh, sorry for this rather delayed final reply.)

This looks promising - but it still seems as though I would have to manually inspect each track to determine where to take a noise profile from. Do you know of any way I can get sox to do that automatically, or is it simpler to use sox batch-processing for dropping the channel and then Audacity chaining for the noise reduction?

comment Windows 7 PC with MacDrive cannot read from Mac booted in target mode
@slhck: Thanks for editing/commenting... I eventually gave up and opened up the MBP again, removed the drive / mounted it in an enclosure. However, I'm going to leave the question open, because from what little I can find on the Internet MacDrive should work for target mode drives just as well as it works for enclosures (and it would be nice not to have to do this again...).

Also, if anyone with more than 300 reputation can edit this and add the 'macdrive' tag I'd appreciate it... thanks!
