comment Can I tell Apple's Time Machine to backup a single folder?
Yeah, that's what I do now, it seems what I ask is not possible thanks to Apple's "extremely easy and user friendly" design style.

comment Can I tell Apple's Time Machine to backup a single folder?
Yeah, I know that, but thanks anyway. ( I have a 1 TB disk for backup, I'm not expecting that anytime soon, my initial backup was 170 GB, from which I have to remove many useless files like movies, and progrssive backups are no more than a couple of MBs now )

comment How much space should I reserve for my Time Machine backups?
You actually can read and write to a NTFS partition (better than FAT for current Windows flavors) if you install MacFuse and NTFS-3G. ( code.google.com/p/macfuse )

comment How to re-map command and option keys on Mac OS X with a PC-keyboard?
Thanks, I'll give it a try. This software is always running or it just makes the changes and they stay in the OS? Also, isn't any plist file anywhere to do this? Thanks!

comment XAMPPErrorDomain error 1 for changing MySQL data dirs
Thanks, in the end I realized looking at the logs, that mysqld was not using the datadir from my.cnf but instead was following a symbolic link in '/Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/var/mysql' pointing to the old data dir. Changed that and it worked, of course. Thanks!

Thanks, although my error log says nothing about it. Mine is in "Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/logs/error_log"

comment htaccess not working on Mac when copied, but works from a NTFS partition
The commands give the same on both partitions: -rwxrwxrwx 1 root admin 944 Oct 8 16:02 .htaccess (and) .htaccess: ASCII English text, with CRLF line terminators And no, the file hasn't any paths, and yes, I copied it with cp and it has 0777 permission

comment How to delete “..”-folder under Windows Vista?
That's so strange about windows, or NTFS. It allows filenames with some strange chars, but then you can't delete or do anything with them. For instance, with Mac OSX, I created a file with colons in its name, on an NTFS partition. Windows shows it, but you can't open it, move it, rename it or delete it.

comment The same XAMPP config works on Windows, but not on Mac OS X
Thnaks, worked like a charm. How strange that ip-based virtual hosts work differently on two versions of the same software.

PS: Sorry, what does OP stand for? I know it refers to me, but don't know the meaning.

comment How to prevent Mac OS X creating .DS_Store files on non Mac (HFS) Volumes?
Nope, not over the network. One disk only, Mac OS in one partition, Windows on the other, and a NTFS partition for shared files.

comment The same XAMPP config works on Windows, but not on Mac OS X
Ok thanks, at least you tried. Of course I'm running the Mac OSX version. Apache works, as it serves, as I wrote, the files on the DocumentRoot. PHP works, and MySQL works fine as well. The only problem is that I can't get apache's virtual hosts to work properly. But thanks anyway!
