comment Why does my caret position change mysteriously while I type?
Some drivers will detect "erroneous" touches on the trackpad and ignore them..so it's possible the default one doesn't do so.

comment How to transfer pidgin settings from one computer to another
@slolife: No, %appdata% in Win7 IS `C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming`. heavyd was likely just recalling it from memory.

comment Can I leverage my desktop's video card when using my laptop?
Do the windows all really need to be in the same context? I've found that browsing/reference material on another machine/monitor and the ability to copy/paste back and forth is generally sufficient, unless All your windows are part of the same app.

comment Can I leverage my desktop's video card when using my laptop?
You've rephrased the situation. The question is "1 laptop, video card in another PC, how do I leverage that?", and the solution is to use both machines with something like Synergy. If the OP changed his mind and wants to buy additional hardware instead of leveraging what he has, he should edit the question to reflect that, imo.

comment Start Menu - expand all programs automatically
This doesn't seem to do what he wants, unless I'm missing something. Even with nothing else displayed, you still have the "All Programs" link that you need to click (or hover over) before seeing all the programs..
