comment Is it possible to migrate a Windows installation to another machine or Parallels?
Be aware that some software is device-specific and will not work if it is simply copied from one machine to another. Watch out for applications that require specific drivers or come packaged with hardware.

The question is about PDFs, not JPG, GIF, or PNG.

One would need the actual PDF to answer this question.

comment virtualizing a .net application
What kind of machine will you be running this on? .NET has come preinstalled with nearly all Windows OSes since Media Center in 2002. Is this a non-Windows OS? Why does he not want .NET installed? Has he deliberately removed it already? Is this some kind of custom hardware? You can package a .NET application into a single .EXE that does not need admin access. You can include the installer with your app. You can even run a .NET app from a server via ClickOnce without installing anything at all.

comment Is there such a thing as a wireless laptop cooler?
Please be aware those devices are not laptop "coolers"; they do not cool your lap or your computer. They are laptop insulators; they insulate your lap from your machine's heat if you lay the machine on your lap. If you literally want to cool your lap or computer you must use a device with a powered fan or with phase-change chemicals.

comment Linux: Giving a user read/write access to all files and directories
This sounds like an XY Problem (meta.stackexchange.com/questions/66377/what-is-the-xy-problem). We will be better able to help if you tell us what problem you are trying to solve, not just how you have decided to solve the problem.

comment Hardware issue: computer plays beep sounds at startup, and then turns off
Ouch, that video card slot looks unfixable. Time for a new motherboard at least, possibly the video card is dead as well; does it have cracks or loose parts?

@Jeremy, Crockford's implementation includes error detection. If you need to correct errors, investigate Forward-Error Correction (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forward_error_correction).
