Aha! This seems quite useful. Many thanks! At least I have access to the source in case I'm not happy with it.

@Paul, And I agree with you on that one :)

@Paul, Whoops. Yeah I remember now. (That site is quite hard on the eyes.) Oh and I now understand your question. Watch that YouTube video I linked to. They talk about which graphics cards could support that. Also, they mention that they have to make some modifications to the driver. So I'm not entirely sure that it is exactly possible with pure software upgrades.

@Paul, Whoa. Interesting. If you'd care to elaborate on that, that would be awesome.

Also, monitors using G-SYNC have been commercially released.

Ah so I did understand it correctly then. Well you cannot say "open-source" since they will never release their driver source code. They're just being nicer than Nvidia then.

comment Is there a quick/automatic way to change monitor brightness at night on Windows 7 or Linux?
For anybody seeing this now, I just wanted to point out that this does not play nice with f.lux installed. It causes all sorts of weird, unpredictable behaviour which I cannot seem to find a pattern for (tested on several TVs, monitors and projectors).

Okay this makes sense! Thanks! But, I have another laptop which does not have this problem (i.e. I don't have to force full duplex to connect fast). What does this mean now?
