comment Failing hard disk
@BlueNovember - Haha, that's actually the article I read about it from! I decided to use the enclosure since I knew the HDD would warm back up quickly inside the computer. Plus, there's nothing that makes you feel more like a geek than sitting with a laptop and cables running into a chest freezer.

I agree - try changing the boot priority to CD, then HDD.

comment Recommendations for a reliable wireless network
You forgot microwaves! Before I wired my house, we used to be all wireless, and our microwave was between our router and htpc. We'd have to pause a movie to make popcorn, otherwise it would drop frames all over the place.

comment Good External Battery options for iPod Touch
No problem. Thankfully, my iPhone 3G battery lasted me for the last flight I took. I've not used any of those, but I've seen the JuicePack highly rated before, and even saw it for sale in an iPod vending machine at the Reno, NV airport!

comment Advice for a Defcon Virgin
@Mike Grace The Wall of Sheep: wallofsheep.com - an interactive demonstration of what can happen when network users let their guard down. We passively observe the traffic on a network, looking for evidence of users logging into email, web sites, or other network services without the protection of encryption. Those we find get put on the Wall of Sheep as a good-natured reminder that a malicious person could do the same thing

I can successfully ping secure.hulu.com. Check to see your router isn't blocking any traffic.
