I do Technical Support for two businesses; a small ISP and a large University. On the side I run a Minecraft server, fiddle in various Linux distros, and program (mostly Ruby).

Finally hit on the right Google search to get my answer. Hopefully this will save someone else time when they search.

comment Alt Gr + 4 resizes windows when using remote desktop
By 'resized', do you mean that your current window gets maximized? minimized? restored? Snapped to an edge? And by 'the window', do you mean the active window in the remote session, or the remote desktop window itself?

comment A photoshop png file all the same size generating dilemma
While it may be possible to do what you're asking with a script or plugin, I can't help but think there is a better workflow completely than the one you are doing. Regardless, I suspect some example images describing your process visually would aid in getting useful answers.

There is no rule I'm aware of that will edit the To or CC field of an outgoing message to clear a particular address. This answer does not appear to address the question.

comment Windows 7 RAM says only 16 GB of 24 GB of RAM is available
Drive caching. The system automatically uses RAM as a drive cache when it's not being used by applications. 20GB of caching is pretty damn nice when you're looking at installed game footprints of 10-15GB. The game will not need to wait for drive access more than once for any particular file.

comment Use DropBox Cloud storage from Linux file system
Drop box requires X to install. On a headless embedded device, your solution is better. Next time you should be mire clear about what makes your needs unique to improve the quality of your answers.

comment What is emacs? What makes it so popular?
The fact that emacs is so amazingly customizable makes it very personal. It's not just a software product; it is a personal workshop that every user built themselves. Out of the box it is useful, but it encourages users to make it their own, to personalize it, to improve it in ways that fits their needs. This means users don't just use their tool... they love their tool, because it is uniquely theirs.

comment How can I explain the difference between programs and documents?
Except that some software is unrecoverable; depending on the state of the computer it is completely within reason to believe that (for example) the registry is corrupted beyond repair and that is where the application stored the product key. Even when things are not that drastic, recovering files requires less expertise and domain knowledge than recovering software licenses; not everyone has a vast computer recovery skillset to draw on.

comment Use DropBox Cloud storage from Linux file system
That is nice, but just so you know, it's completely unnecessary. Dropbox does not mount; it syncs. Install the Linux client for Dropbox and tell it what folder you want to sync, and changes made locally are synced remotely. This is done asynchronously and automatically, with absolutely no user intervention required as long as the client is active.
