comment Windows 7 PC freezes frequently with hard disk light constantly on
Can't answer that one. Perhaps the controller error is a symptom of a deeper issue with the system board? Or, does windows 7 think of the SATA controller as IDE for reporting purposes? Clearly, there is an issue with your hardware...

No problem. Every once in a while there is something useful in the event log ;-)

Sure sounds like a controller component issue to me, perhaps even a motherboard issue. You could try adding an IDE controller card to see if that fixes the issue (they're pretty cheap). That's why I said don't throw away the old drive (the one you replaced) yet. Perhaps the issues with it were actually the controller.

Maybe your drive wasn't bad, but the controller is? Might be time for a new system board, or at least a new IDE controller card.

I tested the link you gave and there's nothing in there that helps. Thanks for the try.

I don't see any "Format Text" tab, or the Styles section either. I'm not even sure what you mean by "tab", or "section". All I have are menu items for File, Edit, View, etc., and toolbar buttons. Where are these? Are you sure this is for Outlook 2003? Even though my problem appears fixed, I'd like to know what I did. Upvote for the try anyway.

Well, I don't know what I did, but now the default seems to be set to what I want. The feature you describe is not available in 2003, apparently. I'm upvoting you anyway for the good try.

I think Ghost is supposed to do this, but am not sure. If you completely disconnect the internal drive and try to boot from the external drive, what happens?
