comment HP Pavilion dv6000 QuickPlay power on
I bought a used motherboard that worked, and replaced the whole motherboard. A few weeks after that, I saw this video and decided to give it a try, since I had nothing to lose. I followed the instructions in that video and I managed to fix the original broken motherboard. Now I have a spare motherboard in case the used one I bought will fail (it hasn't failed yet, and it has been almost 3 years). I don't know how long the repair will hold because I haven't used the repaired motherboard at all (except to test that the repair worked).

comment Melting plastic around DC-in jack in laptop
Speaking of the recycler: my wireless mouse (2 years old) was acting up, not registering clicks sometimes (you needed to press hard for it to register the right click and the scroll wheel click). I took it apart 2 days ago, bought switches from a local electronics store for around $2, and replaced the switches in the mouse. Now it works like new :). I hate planned obsolescence.

comment Melting plastic around DC-in jack in laptop
I ordered a jack from laptopjacks.com and managed to successfully disassemble the laptop and replace the jack. It works perfectly now. The jack I ordered wasn't 100% compatible with the old jack, but I managed to make it work. (The pins lined up, but the original jack fed the negative current trough the shielding and the new one did not - it fed the negative trough a pin. I linked the shielding and the negative pin together and now it works perfectly)

I have tried another power adapter, and I get the same problem. It looks like the dc jack inside the laptop is broken. I didn't even think those things could break like that. Now I have to replace it and I can't find a similar jack anywhere :(

Try to remove your video card and use the onboard video to see if it will show anything

What happens if you delete the "test" folder? Does it reappear magically when you restart your computer or when you install new programs?

comment Revert Skype contact list to be like it was before the latest update
Oh, i see. You can use the combobox-looking thing that is below the search bar to have that functionality. It takes an extra click (versus the old tabs), but at least you don't have to go trough the menus. I have edited my answer to include a picture.

Also, you can delete the files in `C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\NVIDIA Update Core` to completely get rid of it.

comment 64-Bit Opera 11 lags when open many tags or heavy website?
What version of Opera are you running? I have 11.64 on Windows (32 bit) and that site works just fine (no glitches, no hangs). Try running a 32-bit version of Opera, maybe it will work better.

Sure I did. One of your questions was "what does * precisely do? is there some documentation on this?". I pointed you to a page explaining what it does.

comment Prevent Sending Spam with my Yahoo Account?
If there are no more emails in your sent folder, it could indicate that your email address is being spoofed and they aren't sending mail from your address anymore. There's nothing you can do about that. Just keep an eye on your mailbox and your computer. You can try scanning with another antivirus to be sure you are virus-free (but don't keep more than one antivirus installed - that's bad). Also, you can try installing updates for your computer, installing newer versions of your programs (especially the web browser), and try using HTTPS for websites.

I don't think Roboform may have been divulging your password. I don't use it, but online password vaults are usually secure. But if you have a virus on your computer, everything is possible. Nowadays viruses are build mostly for profit: they are built to steal your passwords, and send spam.

comment mysql silent install and configure in nsi
Try restarting the MySQL service after you have configured it. If not even that works, I'm afraid I can't help you further since I don't have 2 networked computers to test on.

Try adding SkipNetworking=no in the commandline for mysqlinstanceconfig. You can see all the parameters here

I have only ran the two commands you specified, and MySQL Query browser is working for me. It can connect locally to the database.
