comment How do I get different background images on my dual monitors?
+1 For the tip. However this doesn't work if you have two monitors but you're using monitor number 2 on the right as your main display. The origin of the image is based on where the start menu is, even if it's half way between the monitors as mine is.

comment Can I upgrade my promotional copy of Vista Ultimate to Windows 7?
Hmm that's a good point - the laptop I was going to install it on originally came with XP so I'd be elligible for an upgrade anyway. Thanks.

I'm not really sure if this answers my question directly - I am specifically referring to upgrading the particular promotional copy shown in the question.

Great, thanks. Did yours look like the one above or different? My copy is from the UK so there may be licensing differences.

Can I ask what you are basing this answer on? Have you done it personally or is it just a guess?

Using SQL Server Management Studio 2008 doesn't mean you have to upgrade the servers themselves. What did the 2000 to 2005 upgrade make slower?

comment How can I edit a PDF file?
You're correct that PDFs are usually generated from other document formats, but it's generally a one-way process. Once you've converted something to a PDF you can't easily get back to something exactly the same as the original document format. There may well be tools that can do this for some formats but it's not a universal solution.

I'm running Windows 7 so I can do this through the Disk Management utility anyway, but I think I read that it's not a good idea if the VHD is an image of the system you're currently booted into.

I've opened .vhd files created by other applications using 7-Zip, it's quite handy and definitely possible. For example, the ones created by the Windows Vista Complete PC Backup.

comment Is there any software or hardware which lets you stop, slow down, speed up or even reverse time?
I was looking for something a bit more analogue than that. Almost like a wheel on the front of the computer that you could turn to slow down and speed up the clock.

comment How to install Ubuntu, Windows XP and Windows 7 from scratch as triple-boot system
Agreed. As a general rule I always install Windows first, from oldest (e.g. XP) to newest (e.g. 7) then finish off with the Linux distribution (e.g. Ubuntu).
