Director of Technology
A software developer since the mid-80's I ran a successful consulting business for 15 years. I have worked for everything startups and international companies that did billions of dollars a quarter in profit.
As a technology consultant I made a career out of finding the next job, learning more about my clients business than they knew and giving them direction to future successes. I have comprehensive experience with both software and hardware development companies.
I have extensive experience as a hiring manager as well, earned from years of experience building, teaching and managing creative Agile Technical teams.

Is there a better way to block incoming/outgoing connections than the hosts file (Mac) you specify without 3rd party software, but it would be criminal not to mention that Little Snitch does what you want brilliantly! And should be a standard install on every OSX machine connected to the internet! |

Why is Google so much faster than a hard-drive search? OSX has a really fast robust intelligent search of your local filesystem called Spotlight; that is totally transparent, Windows could do the same, but they just can't or won't do it because of the shitty scheduler, the background process would eat up to much CPU time in Windows that is why it is turned off by default on most systems. |

How can I fix a computer that is infested with malware and is extremely unresponsive? it isn't literally too slow to do anything, as the OP plainly states it does do something, just very slowly! |

Why are there multiple Chrome instances running even though I only have one window (only one tab) open? if by "Better use system resources" you mean "way more resources" you are correct. |

Why is the “top” command showing a CPU usage of 799%? you don't tell "Java" to do anything as it is a language, the JVM is the runtime and you can't tell it to use a single thread. |

Why does wget'ing an image give me a file, not an image? I have no idea why this has so many up votes, because the URL you posted is for a .gif file, changing the file name to 2.png will not magically make that .gif a .png. Either way an image is a file, everything saved anywhere is a file even directories are actually stored on filesystems as files. |

Does full-disk encryption on SSD drive reduce its lifetime? @IvoFlipse the crux of the question I flagged as a duplicate states "...Will this effectively put the drive into a fully used state and how will this effect the wear leveling and performance of the drive?..." that is exactly this same question. |
