Is this dual boot or a virtual machine?

comment Sort files in a directory
Using Windows explorer, select the last file then shift-click on the first file. This selects them in the proper order for the copy/move.

comment How do I rename a bunch of files in the Command Prompt?
There are very few people who would consider batch files "code".

comment Recovering data from external hard drive with hard drive enclosure
Suggestions? Yeah, stop spilling water on your hard drive! Seriously, the enclosure doesn't do much - why do you think the drive itself is not affected?

comment DVD filenames contain quote marks; can't copy to Windows machine
@TonyR, I've updated the example. Because your filename has spaces in it, you need to put quotes around the whole thing.

comment What are the hidden files on my new SD card?
Thanks for the answer. I think I tried dir /a originally but forgot to include that in the question; I did it again just to be sure, and didn't get anything. I tried RootkitRevealer as well, and got a little scared when it failed to run; then I saw that it was only XP/2003 and I'm running 64-bit Windows 7.

comment What does it mean to have a line spacing multiple at 1.15?
@Pacerier, the line spacing is not always the same as the font size. It will vary based on the font that is selected.

comment How many files can you put in a Windows folder without a noticable performance degradation?
32767 is a special number because it's the maximum that representation in a 16-bit signed value; "about 30000" is close enough.

comment Different image sizes in Paint.NET vs. Photoshop?
Opera is correct, the smaller file really is 8-bit. It appears Paint.NET has performed an unauthorized optimization.

You have a bug - in your requirements.

Sounds like the solution to the opposite problem.

comment How long can you read files from a flash drive if kept in a cool, dark room?
I would not rely on the ability to rescue magnetic media. As capacities have gone up, the redundancy of the signal has gone down - the heroic techniques of yesteryear to revive a disk are now part of the normal electronics, used for everyday operation.

comment Saving as PNG-8 vs -24: How can I tell how much color info is being discarded?
Counting colors won't help, as it won't tell you if the colors dropped are similar to the starting colors or not. You can subtract the 8-bit result from the original, but again it's going to be a subjective measure.

The only way to know is to try it and look at the results.

comment Should I turn my monitor off or leave it in stand-by?
@a sandwich - I've never heard that games (or any other moving images) will affect an LCD in any way.

comment Should I turn my monitor off or leave it in stand-by?
@a sandwich, the only setting which might make a difference is the backlight brightness. Turn it down for longer life.

comment Is there a way to make IE7 default to ms-image-mode:bicubic?
Never did get this to work, but they finally upgraded to IE 8 so it's a moot point. Thanks for the answer.

comment Stop Microsoft Word 2010 from smoothing screenshots?
I believe that PDF files have a native embedded image resolution, so if you resize your images to match then Word might be able to skip a step. Unfortunately I fear the resulting PDF size might be unreasonable.

Maybe a virus is blocking the installation? I'm sure the virus writers know that the best defense is a good offense.

comment What are the differences between 2.5“ and 3.5” hard disks?
@Wil, the 8 inch size was never very popular, I'm surprised to see it show up in a picture like this. You should have seen the 14 inch drives though! Also the 5.25 seems stubbier than I remember.
