comment How can I tell which laptop touch-screens work well with a stylus (for drawing/taking notes)?
@DaveRook according to meta.superuser.com/a/5545/23668 this sort of question is on-topic: "However, a question that allows for a learning opportunity and that can be applied to various situations, of the form "how can I determine [for myself] which foo can do bar" has potential to be valuable."

I'm not sure why the close-vote; if you read past the first sentence, you'll see this isn't a shopping recommendation, it's about the different types of touch-screens

comment How can I view HD videos without stuttering on PS3 Media server?
Nowadays "Video quality" has been renamed "transcoder quality," and is a dropdown. There's an option for "Wireless," but unfortunately that doesn't work for me - I need to set it to "Low quality (Slow CPU)" to get no stuttering on wireless for some videos (my CPU is blazing fast, the only issue is the connection). Despite the name, though, it doesn't actually look that bad.

comment How can I enter Unicode characters (e.g. ♥♦♣♠) when logging into Windows?
FYI alt-codes enter characters from your current codepage, not unicode. You need to set a flag in the registry to use unicode alt-codes.

comment What stops an internet router from sniffing my traffic?
@FrankThomas: The US government uses one-time pads for its most secure transmissions. They transfer truck-loads of tapes with large random keys on them by armed-guard, or so the story goes.

comment Disable “Do you want to change the color scheme to improve performance?” warning
"I never assumed the message can be turned off and I don't see how that could be considered a benefit." - Because this message pops up often when playing video games, pulling me out of the game (which sometimes isn't paused) just to disable this message once again. I don't care that my system is using all its GPU ram (in fact, that's a good thing). I don't care if Windows Aero runs slow while I'm in my game, as long as the game continues to run fine - which it always does. I just want this message to not disrupt my gaming.

comment Does the BIOS have some sort of generic 'drivers'
It's my understanding that interrupt calls are still used by the kernel and kernel-level services. Is that not true?

comment Why is hibernation still used?
@DanielRHicks: Perhaps you should try using a computer with an SSD sometime, because the time to load a program is drastically faster.
