comment Sonicwall Global VPN Client fails to connect, despite successful connections from other computers from behind the same router
I disabled the firewall but that didn't help. I ran Wireshark on the laptop, but I couldn't see any outgoing traffic to the VPN server at all, however I did see a couple of ICMP replies coming back with "Destination unreachable (Fragmentation needed)". I lowered the MTU, but then I didn't see anything att all. It is as if the VPN-client is blocked from any and all network access.

The IP address of the VPN server can be pinged from the command line, so I think I've ruled that out.

comment Keyboard layout switching with synergy
Perhaps, but I've yet to find a hotkey which is not eaten. Synergy will (and should) by default eat all keystrokes, so I suspect that I need to instruct Synergy to explicitly pass certain keystrokes back to the server.

Sorry, but that doesn't work. The layout has to be switched on the server, or the mapping will not be correct. (At least not in my case.) Switching on the client will only affect input from the client's own keyboard.

comment EOL converter as a shell extension
Maybe, if I can squeeze in some time to experiment a little. Is there a way to keep the cmd window open after the command finishes?

Ok. Thanks, anyway.

I opted for the "unix2dos" variant. The "TYPE" variant didn't work. Will it correctly detect file with mixed EOL conventions?

Here's a file with mixed line-endings: dl.dropbox.com/u/2113034/crlf.txt

Unfortunately Notepad++ cannot convert files with mixed line-endings. If there are both LF and CRLF in a file, it will refuse to directly convert to Windows. You have to first convert to Unix, and then back to Windows. Annoying.
