I'm having the same problem on the Mac. Argh... quite frustrating. Surely there must be a shortcut.

The K-Lite Codec pack is mostly for decoding, and only does encoding to a small number of formats. I don't believe VP6a is one of those.

I don't believe the wizard will transfer your applications, only documents and other user data.

comment Most convenient way to start/stop MySQL on Windows?
You should be able to right-click your shortcut, go to "Advanced" and set it to "Run as Administrator". Then it will do this every time. See 4.bp.blogspot.com/_Sd3kgrxXWzY/TNnEeP5b_LI/AAAAAAAAAn8/…

comment What is the Flash Player performance bottleneck? Not CPU?
Oh OK, I see. Didn't realise that a thread could change cores so frequently, but I suppose it makes sense. So I guess for the best Flash performance you want the fastest CPU clock speed possible, regardless of cores (although Flash might possibly use 2)...?

Flash Player 10.2 (latest stable release) and I think I've tried latest ATI Catalyst drivers as well as default Windows 7 drivers, and both seem to offer a similar result.

Also, I tried running the benchmark SWF in the standalone Flash projector (latest 10.2) and the process hovers around 18-22% of total CPU usage during the Ultra test. Perhaps it is using two threads as you said...

Thanks for your post Mokubai. I would have thought that if only one core was being utilised then the usage graph would be high (max?) on one section. Or are the graphs not accurate in that sense?

comment Build pc with 6 dvi outputs?
Sorry, but how do you get 4 or 6 outputs from the 4850 X2 or 4870 X2? They both seem to be 2-port cards. I think it's only ATI's 5000 series that support 3+ ports simultaneously.

comment How to connect 6 monitors
I've successfully run a 4-monitor setup under Windows 7 that works as an extended desktop, so you can run different windows on separate screens, or even stretch one out so that it covers all four (usually requires sizing it manually). Am about to attempt a 6-monitor setup using the same technique. Trying to work out whether to use 3 x 2-port cards, 2 x 3-port cards, or 1 x 6-port card.

Flash Player 10.2 has even more GPU support. Not sure if Hulu have implemented it yet or not.

comment I need *what* for Flash video?
Yes, VLC is better (smoother) at playing FLVs/MP4s, but if it's an online stream you may not have that option.

comment I need *what* for Flash video?
This comment is now out of date (it was posted nearly 2 years ago). Flash has used the GPU for H.264 video decoding for a while (DXVA I think), and as of the recent 10.2 player can also use the GPU for video display.
