I am a researcher at Incipit, where I read, write, think, have coffee and also write code every now and then.

I have experience in method engineering, software methodologies, conceptual modelling, software development techniques, cultural heritage, technical writing and project management.

I'm also a partner in two businesses where we develop large software applications and services, and I participate in standardisation projects with ISO and AENOR.

You can also find me on LinkedIn and I keep a couple of blogs.

What kind of "snap" are you talking about? Is this Aero snap, Windows Forms control positioning snap, the WPF equivalent, or something else?

@Zoredache: I understand. I have changed channels in my wireless router; we will see how it goes. Many thanks for your advice. I suggest you put your comment as an answer; if it works, I should set yours as accepted, since you mentioned this first.

Thanks, Bruce. I have switched from channel 11 (the one in use until now) to channel 7. We will see how it goes. Still, wouldn't that affect all my wireless devices equally?

@Zoredache: I understand. But wouldn't that affect all my wireless devices? My wireless laptops are unaffected; it's only my iPhone and iPod touch that are unstable.

Thanks for the suggestion about eventid.net, but the event id is pretty generic. Also, as I said in my original post, I don't think that there is a actually problem with the formatting of the disk. This error message is definitely masking something else.

Yeah I know. There is a reproducible bug report on Seagate's forums, but it doesn't apply to this particular NAS device model. As you say, just move on! :-)

Well, I have been doing backups on a remote shared folder for months. I have seen the post that you mention (and that you have copied in your answer here), but apparently it does not apply to Windows 7 Backup. Using a remote shared folder is a valid option.
