comment How do I remove a password from FileVault?
Well, of course disabling and re-enabling FileVault would fix it, as that's the source of the problem; but I wanted to achieve this without increasing insecurity. The reason why this volume is encrypted is because I encrypted before installing and copying the data to avoid having data unencrypted at any point. We ended up turning it off and on again. I bet it is possible, but I can't find how.

This is not an answer, but we are building a product that you may find useful. Screensaver.Ninja displays web pages as your screensaver, one after the other with the time delays that you specify.

I can't provide an answer, but if you are willing to drive that screen by a Windows or Mac machine, you could use our product Screensaver.Ninja.

comment how can I have many web pages on a single web page?
It's not exactly what you are asking for, but I think our product could be useful for what you want. It's a screensaver that displays web pages in rotation: Screensaver.Ninja.

comment Generate a recovery key for a FileVault
How positive are about that information? The program fdesetup has a command changerecovery which says "Change or add recovery key", I'm just not 100% sure of how it works yet.

comment Yosemite update crashed and now won't finish
This laptop came with an SSD and now has a bigger one that I just put in and with command-r I can trigger the re-installation of Mountain Lion. I'm looking for alternatives to doing that again.

@slhck, yes, I could, but this was setting up a brand new hard drive from said backup. I'd need to restart the whole process from scratch and the owner of the MacBook is already very annoyed that Migration Assistant doesn't work.

comment Mountain Lion's Migration Assistant not seeing USB hard drive
I connected the drive to a USB/SATA adaptor, turned it on, plugged it and then entered the FileVault password when prompted. No proprietary stuff beyond Apple's here.

It was named enterprise before and there are no other machines named enterprise on this network.
