I work at a large international development charity in London, as International Operations Manager. I manage a team of Regional ICT Service Managers, based in developing world countries, who keep our users happy through fixing problems, setting up great connectivity and generally making sure users can do their day jobs.

I previously worked at the same place as International Network Systems Analyst. I looked after a bunch of ICT systems in offices in the developing world, as well as looking after systems in our HQ. I gained a lot of knowledge in that job, and the techy side competes with the people stuff in the new role, hence I still hang out here a lot.

I'm passionate about the use of ICT in developing countries, both in terms of dealing with the inherent problems for ICT in those places, and using ICT as a tool for development.

comment How can I paste text without format in a lync chat window?
That is stripping some annoying formatting such as bullet points, but keeping colour and font. I don't know where all this crap about pasting the source formatting came from - does anyone really want to do that by default?

comment How to display DNS cache without using ipconfig?
I realise that isn't helpful if you are restricted from running ipconfig, but I was looking for a graphic interface for this, but then realised I just needed a better interface for reading the text.

Well, I guess this is just a hangover from the late 90s when Microsoft thought everything should be a hypertext browser and forgot that some applications might normally be used for something else than opening web pages.

comment Access two networks with two network cards
If you have a valid network address in Network A then you should be able to reach a host in it by ping for example. Use tracert to validate whether it is going direct to the host in Network A, or going via the default gateway in Network B (assuming of course that the default gateway is not set up as transparent). What is the subnet for Network B? If it is larger than 255.255.0.0 then traffic for Network A will be sent to the NIC for Network B.

That there isn't a setting would be a valid answer. Turning off automatic hyperlinks would work for all documents I create, but not for any created by other people who haven't also turned this off. If you know for certain that there isn't UI to turn this off, then say so, Otherwise, please don't deter other people from answering by criticising the question.

I've Googled and searched on SuperUser and come up with plenty of suggestions for how you can click and hold, create VBscripts or Macros to strip hyperlinks, but so far nothing about making Excel behave like Word. To be honest I thought that would be obvious from the question. I'm running Excel 2010, but is potentially annoying for anyone running Excel 2003, 2007, 2010, and possibly 2013.

AVG is flagging that the core Windows Utility has been changed - that is the sort of thing that malicious software often does.

Is it necessary to include quotes around Source Code in the exclusion file, or can it handle spaces ok?
