comment Why is SMB from a Windows 7 64-bit to OS X Server so slow when using DNS vs IP?
Rarely does resolution have anything to do with SMB.

comment Is XP mode in Windows 7 better than a regular virtual machine?
It is so much better than in a regular VM. For one, you can run applications in their own windows, rather than manually firing up the XP VM and then the application.

comment Auto login in background in Windows Server 2008 R2?
I didn't think it was possible to autologin on Server 2008

comment Can Windows 7 boot to my one account, but show the locked screen?
More and more people need to quit shutting off their machine and either use sleep or logoff.

comment Move files from multiple folders all into parent directory with command prompt
This won't work. * does not properly work for folders. Gotta break out the third party programs like Total Commander.

comment Does Windows Move command delete the file only on successful completion?
Yes, this isn't the same as the Leopard bug.

comment How do I avoid a server-client-server round-trip while moving files on a NAS?
Tehnically, what you are asking is impossible. The protocols that file managers use to access network shares does not allow programs to issue "local" calls. This is why you need to switch protocols, like SSH, VNC, etc, which will allow local call.s

comment Is there a way to find out if something is running as Administrator?
All versions of Windows have Task Manager. Hit CTL-ESC.

comment Run program as admin without entering credentials? (Automatic Win7 elevation)
This sounds like a bad security policy to me. I hope Microsoft doesn't allow something like this.

comment number of Valid hosts in IPv6?
Theoretically, the largest amount of hosts ip6 can host is 2^128, just like ip4 can host 2^32.

comment Do hard drives lie?
On top of that, you need a separate tool that will read the SMART data.

comment How can hard drives store so much data and before it fails, be so reliable to give back all the bits without any error?
Or you could just say, really really smart people came up with ideas and tested that they work. At National Instruments, they build computers that you can drop off a 20 story building and still keeps on ticking.

comment Windows 7 Can't Get Past Format
Yeah, sounds like either the motherboard or PSU. I'd first try a different PSU and see if that solves the problem. If not, then I'd peg the motherboard.

comment Global Hosts file WINDOWS
to push out GPO changes, you need AD. This isn't possible with a WORKGROUP.

comment Why do I need restart computer after installing new software?
I agree. These days, unless they update a critical system file or driver, there is no reason to have to restart the system. Often it is developers who want to make sure they "cover all the bases."

comment using dropbox.com for software update
Plus no modern OS these days allow executables from the Internet to autorun. This is, again, due to security.

comment Two people using the same computer at the same time remotely!
Currently, consumer versions of Windows does not allow this. Only Windows Server allows this.

comment How to hibernate per login
You can't technically suspend users like they way you described using Windows. You would need a separate OS running underneath Windows that saves and resumes copies of itself (ie a hypervisor). There are OSes that can do this, but they are probably beyond your price range.

That's the smallest you can make the border.

comment Share VirtualBox folders in reverse? Guest-Host?
Depending on how you configured the Guest VM's network adapter, this is the best solution. The way Virtual Box shares a host's folder is by turning it into a network share. You can go the other way with it. Share the guest VM's folder and connect to it as a network share. Beware though, if you setup the Guest's Network adapter as internal only, or NAT, then this is trickier. Best that you set the Network adapter as "bridged," that way they are in the same subnet.
