comment What does \; mean in a script?
The question is not precisely answered, even though some wonderful explanation was given. The ; marks the end of the command that -exec will be running. The \ is for escaping it from bash.

comment Unable to get ls to recognise LS_OPTIONS or LS_COLORS?
Is ls aliased with different options? Try 'type ls' to see if it is aliased. \ls should run the unaliased ls.

What is timeout? I don't think it is part of standard Linux installations.

comment How to disable message sorting on Thunderbird?
I don't think it is possible to disable or hide it. One option is to sort on ascending Date (instead of descending as in your case). That way you won't be clicking close to the sort header. Of course you might not prefer that order. One good thing about Thunderbird is that it scrolls to show the new mail in the end.

comment Right shift key not working with " key
@Piyush: Try removing the keys and clean it up. As I mentioned before, these two keys are close together, may be when right shift is pressed, the quote key is not depressing properly, or some hair or dirt is inside preventing the key press to be registered. Good suggestion by barlop to attach a USB keyboard, that will clear if that is a OS issue.

comment Right shift key not working with " key
When you press shift key and quote key, what happens? Nothing appears on the screen or single quote appears (as against double quotes)? If they are next to each other, is it possible that pressing one key is interfering with the press of the other (mechanically or electronically)?

comment How can a bash script run several others scripts?
@slhck: Thanks for the explanation. I too don't use cat redundantly otherwise. In this case, if I am using for, can cat be avoided? I understand while is better, but want to know if cat can be avoided if for is used.

@slhck: I didn't understand the 'useless use of cat' comment.

comment Can you repeat last command with flags in bash?
In my bash, !! -rf works (simpler than !!:0 !*). I don't know if this is dependent on the bash version (as you have mentioned about GNU distribution). Mine is "GNU bash, version 3.00.15(1)"

comment Can you repeat last command with flags in bash?
@ott: What if the command is a long one? Also $_ stands only for the last parameter? similar to !$? What if there are multiple parameters?
