comment Should we expect DDR3L RAM to work on the Intel first-gen Core i3 platform?
Thanks! I find that running a memory intensive workload on Linux (7-zip benchmark with a large dictionary) can cause the system to reboot too, consistent with the idea that this is an undervolt instability.

@ChrisInEdmonton Sadly Intel's marketing team choose to name Nehalem/Westmere as first-gen, Sandy Bridge as second-gen, Ivy Bridge as third-gen, and so on. I agree it's counter intuitive. I've edited the title to reduce the confusion.

@David: It is because the first time I ran memtest86+, it appeared to run fine, so I moved onto booting Windows and Linux. After reading Ramhound's reply, I wanted to double check the information I've posted, so I rerun memtest86+ and waited longer, and this time it failed. I also double checked Linux, and it still work (and I got the lshw output above).

comment Windows cant repair even with sfc /scannow
My own testing is consistent with Ramhound's finding and that dism alone is not enough. After running dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth, which says "The component store corruption was repaired", sfc /verifyonly still returns "Windows Resource Protection found integrity violations". sfc /scannow fixes that and returns "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them"

comment Is it safe to disable cache flushing on a SSD with “power loss protection”?
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this setting disables disk buffer flushing only, not OS cache flushing. See blogs.msdn.com/b/oldnewthing/archive/2013/04/16/10411267.aspx
