I'm just a simple IT guy, who does a bit of programming on the side.

comment Why does an access point have a BSSID?
@quadruplebucky Snooping on the functions of a higher level seems like a dubious definition of "operates", but you're free to have an opinion.

comment Why does an access point have a BSSID?
@no.human.being An Ethernet switch only snoops on MAC addresses for efficiency. It's not a layer 2 device in the traditional sense of the term unless it also has management functions and communicates with devices on the network.

comment Access an internal network Webcam from outside (www)?
You need mod_proxy, not rewrite. I'd highly recommend finding someone who knows what they're doing to help you before you expose your entire internal network to the Internet, or become an open relay.

You think that is enough, or you actually looked at the spec sheet and know that is enough?

comment Can I sign code with a website SSL certificate?
@njr101 I buy certs from StartSSL. They only charge to verify who you are (and also company names if you want those), once verified they'll issue as many certificates with that information as you want, including free "server" certs without any personal or company information. Most other CA's treat the certificate itself as a product to be sold, and charge as much as they think they can get away with (that's capitalism at it's finest).

comment Driving two 2560x1440 displays with Lenovo T430 and 433715U ThinkPad Mini Dock Series 3
#3 is true, if the chipset supports daisy-chained displays. Last I knew AMD was the only manufacturer to support this, and people have reported problems with various drivers and whatnot.

comment Catch 22: Missing Acer Network Drivers
+1 Seriously, any website trying to instill credibility with a generic name like "Official Drivers" is obviously unofficial and likely malware. @JohnJudd You should consider running a good anti-malware scan against both computers that were exposed to that website; or better yet, reinstall...

Yeah, he's not actually trying to download from Acer. See his update on the crapware ridden site he's trying to use.
