comment Power-related limitations of a USB Hard Drive Enclosure?
Sorry if I didn't phrase it correctly, but my external hard drive enclosure only has 1 cable - a USB one. Usually they give you a cable that splits into two USB plugs, or one USB cable and one power cable that connects to a power socket, but this one just has one USB cable, and I was wondering whether it would be able to power a 500 or 700GB drive. (Right now it powers 320GB drives perfectly.)

comment Security measures for Ubuntu 10.4
Hardening of the OS itself is required. Firewall/IP tables configuration is needed, I think.

No - the only large opening is the front swinging door of the cabinet.

Wouldn't necessarily work if I have 200 layers or so, and I cannot find a way to bulk-edit layers.

comment Multiple PCs, one monitor
Not sure why you'd want to be running 4 separate PCs on one monitor as opposed to the conventional 1-really powerful-PC + multiple monitors.

comment Why does my computer run fast after a clean install?
@Hippo: -1 for throwing away your antivirus. A security suite is critical for a computer, and even though people say that antivirus programs may not cover up all the possible security flaw entries, it still is somewhat effective though.

comment Can I use iMac Internet sharing as a way to monitor Internet usage in my home?
As piagetblix said, OpenDNS setup on the router would be the best way to go. This way, you get a wider variety of controls and other options, especially if you purchase the upgrade package. For the direct access to the router, I don't think that it's really possible. They could just use an ethernet wire to directly connect their computer to the router and be free to roam without connecting to the WiFi network that your iMac is hosting.

What would be the best way to prevent this then? There's no guarantee that someone else might unplug my desktop PSU plug unless I hide it in the nest of wires at the back of the room.

=) Brilliant suggestion about the thumbdrive. Forgot about that technique from ages ago. (Will upvote this later on when I get my votes back.) ... It's not possible to use a Mac OS disk, isn't it?
