comment Why doesn't TrueCrypt support system encryption on non-Windows machines?
You do realize TrueCrypt itself was discontinued in 5/2014, so the point is moot?

comment Invoking vi through find | xargs breaks my terminal. Why?
@rahmanisback: The other answers, plus Trevor's comment, all provided ways to avoid terminal breakage in the first place. I accepted grawity's answer, because my question was "why", not "how to avoid" -- that's covered by another question that actually spawned this one.

comment Is there really a “USB communication protocol”?
@reirab: "...possible (and common) to send something other than the Ethernet protocol down a Category 6 cable with RJ-45 connectors..." -- like a DSL or ISDN signal. Actually, the electrician doing the cabling in our house even connected the doorbell with some spare Cat.7 (instead of plain 2-wire) as I found out recently. ;-)

comment How do I patch the shellshock vulnerability on an obsolete Ubuntu system that I can't upgrade?
That's a bit like saying, "we found that you can have segfaults in C++, just use Java instead"...

comment apt-get behind proxy on VirtualBox Ubuntu

comment Vim: Open current windows/tabs in GVim instead
All nice and well, but completely unnecessary to solve the actual use-case problem: set mouse=a activates mouse support for terminal Vim as well, making Vim windows click-activateable...

comment Vim: Open current windows/tabs in GVim instead
I actually found Ingo's answer to be more helpful overall, as I didn't know about sessions and could see where they can be useful outside the scope of my actual question. But you did answer the actual question more precisely, so I feel you should get the checkmark of honor.

So simple, yet so powerful. I don't think I will ever stop being amazed by Vim. Thanks!
