So --rebuild-sb/--rebuld-tree can also grow filesystems?

comment Can I repair a physically broken USB drive?
@BarafuAlbino, Shouldn't properly implemented USB host port be resilient against shorting anything with anything or with ground?

comment Can I repair a physically broken USB drive?
I usually expect USB ports to be resilient against short circuit in newer (where USB 2 is already "newer" and USB 1.1 is "old") computers. Using cheap a USB hub should reduce critical failure probability further.

comment Can XMPP/Jabber support editing of messages and offline message like in Skype?
It's needed for fixing typos and clarifying things, not for hiding the information. I don't like to leave blatantly imperfect messages around without any effort to fix; and separate correction messages (especially mutliple ones) does not look good.

comment How to output file from the specified offset, but not “dd bs=1 skip=N”?
It's not about viewing the file as hex. It's about extracting the content of a file (to copy it somewhere, for example) from the specified offset in bytes.

comment How do I dump information from a Windows *.lnk shortcut on Linux?
lnk files are text, open them with a text editor (deleted comment) -> It looks like a binary file, with a lot of zero bytes and some UTF-16le fragments.

I usually stick at some ESR version for a long time (updating it within major version). I don't always like "new feelings" from browser updates. By the time I actually update the browser (not to the recent version), the workarounds for new misfeatues are already available.

comment How to remove specific domain from address bar typing suggestion?
Found the workaround: I temporarily changed "When using the location bar, suggest:" from "Bookmarks" to "Bookmarks and History". That way I'm able to to invoke the entry in the explicit list.

comment How to remove specific domain from address bar typing suggestion?
Does not work. I start typing: whatev... Firefox appends whatev{selection starts}erdomain.com{selection ends}. I press Down - nothing changes (there is no popdown list), I press Del - the selected part of the text disappears, not not permanently. It reappears if I start typing it again. The Firefox version in questoin is 17esr.

comment How udev sends input device change notification to Xorg?
Is there a tool like socat, but for AF_NETLINK so sockets? (I though NETLINK is for kernel<->userspace, not for userspace<->userspace...)

comment How udev sends input device change notification to Xorg?
Something about inaccessibility of the respective input device. Udev and Xorg were running in separate network namespaces and only path-based UNIX sockets pierce though network namespace bordres transparently.

@GeorgesDupéron, How to attain decent GUI performance without giving direct access to X server? The main questoin is what to put between X and the browser.

comment How to make ssh-agent automatically add the key on demand?
@lanrat, This checks if key is present in ssh-agent and configures alias depending on the presence. But due to timeout (ssh-add -t ...) the key added to ssh-agent may go away abruptly, but and the alias will stay as it the key is still in memory.

comment How to call something between a bridge and a router?
"There was"? I expect Linux can be configured to do this with automatic editing of routing table + manual propogation of broadcasts. BTW are there already such programs or I need to implement it?
