Twitter Link I'm a Delphi developer, going back to Turbo Pascal 5.5, TPW and BP/O7. I do a reasonable amount of SQL Server (mostly schema design, sprocs and T-SQL utilities) and maintain some legacy apps that use Firebird and Interbase.

I've been picking up C# (both .Net and Mono), and more recently WPF, and have some basic utilities written using Mono that run on Windows, Mac and Ubuntu.

I develop bespoke software - I run my own small company, mostly writing point-of-sale systems for the financial services and high-street finance type markets.

In my downtime I explore my Mac (I switched a few years ago, now I do all my work in VMs on the Mac), and I have a 1-year-old daughter who is the other 'apple of my eye'.

This works a treat on the Acer Aspire One netbooks when running XP.

Thanks, ChrisF - I guess the wording of my question was too confusing for the automatic 'question already asked' search. :-)

comment Accessing Menus in Mac OS X via Keyboard
+1 Oh, I like it. It's almost Quicksilver-like. I'd never got my head round what that 'search' on the help menu was for, given that it seemed to include menus and stuff - how neat. That's a tip I'll be using every day from now on. :-)

+1 for Twitter (surprisingly effective for this) and Gruber's Fireball. Have bookmarked MacAppstorm for the weekend. :-)

comment Alternative File Managers on Mac OS X
+1 It pains me to admit this, but it's one area that really sucks on the Mac. I don't know how much work has gone on in Finder under Snow Leopard, but hopefully they've made some functional improvements as well as the internal rewrites. The one program on Windows I wish I could have on the Mac (maybe apart from Delphi!) is Explorer. I know, lock me up now - but really, Explorer is a far better navigation and management tool than Finder. I'm following this with interest in case any genuinely good 3rd party suggestions appear.
