Mainly a systems security guy with some Perl knowledge.

I'm reading through SICP and K&R right now. I wish someone had shown me SICP earlier in my career. Just Chapter 1 has been blowing my mind.

comment Choosing Dual or Quad Core
+1 - Even with software that only uses a single core, having the option to switch background tasks to their own core (set processor affinity) is pretty sweet.

comment How can I make Windows not mount a drive when it is plugged in?
You do realize, if your employer is monitoring, they already know you're plugging the iPod in... which can be a no-no if say, removable media is also restricted (since an iPod is also a very expensive flash drive).

Pretty much a duplicate of the 3 questions listed in the top-voted answer.

comment What is the preferred way to access physical drives from VMware virtual machines?
Yeah, 'use physical disk' is not what the OP wants to be using. I'd wonder how much damage could be happening to the host operating system.

comment what is the best way to transfer games from a linux server to a lan of windowsXP
Might want to describe what it is you want to do, as opposed to asking about a transfer method to implement a solution of dubious value.

This question makes me realize I am obviously not surfing this wave. I'm in the wading pool with my Facebook account.

comment Why the heck does NTFS allow invisible executables?
No prob. Btw, check your spelling. And always remember: Threats exploit vulnerabilities. Threats are people, usually, but natural and made-made disasters count too.

comment Why the heck does NTFS allow invisible executables?
<nitpick> It's a vulnerability, not a threat</nitpick>. And it's not as big of a deal as it sounds. You need to already have credentials to use it.

Is spinrite really any good? Always seemed like fluff-ware to me.

comment Ways to format an HDD
FYI, newly damaged areas on a drive can be a red flag for imminent disk failure. I'm not sure I would trust the drive.

comment How fast is each core in a dual-core processor?
+1 - You might want a short blurb on parallelism, but it's not essential. Maybe with a pretty graph? :)
