comment What are the common Control combinations in a terminal setting
FYI: When using PuTTY, If you accidentally hit Ctrl+s (XOFF) you need Ctrl+q to get your session responding again.

Nice! I was trying to think of a way to avoid the redirection.

I was trying something along the lines of your first example however it does not work. See my edit in the original question.

comment How to clear the contents of a file from the command line?
echo "" > will still give you a file with one character (a newline.) If you want to use echo, use "echo -n > file.log" to echo null.

comment Windows Vista - Can't start any program without choosing “Run as administrator”
Her user didn't show up as belonging to the 'Users' group so good suggestion. The resolution was letting the updated antivirus clean the system and then add a new user for her.

Correct, it's any program or shortcut. Running a downloaded .exe directly also gave the same warning.

comment How can I make an image appear partially in front and partially behind another layer in Adobe Illustrator?
Thank you! This is exactly what I was looking for. I made a copy of the vector drawing in another layer and then following the directions in the article used a clipping mask to isolate just the paw in the top layer.

comment How can I paint gaps within text in Adobe Illustrator?
I could do that but I would prefer to keep the image as a vector since it will be used for both print and online.
