comment How do I close a window from an application, passing the file name?
Instead of if (docName is equal to "$2") then, if (docName starts with "$2") then might help with the "<filename> (1 page)" issue...

I think set docName to (name of document of front window) should be set docName to (name of document of window x) - the front window stays the same, so the loop always uses the same window. Also, this doesn't solve the "<filename> (1 page)" issue, does it ?

comment Change DNS Server From Terminal (or script) on Mac OS X
This does not seem to work on my Mac OSX 10.7.5 MBP, at least not when done literally. Should I replace anything in the set State:/Network/Service/PRIMARY_SERVICE_ID/DNS line or can I use that as it is ? Should the new DNS servers show up in the scutil --dns output after the change ?

comment How can I get a script to run every day on Mac OS X?
It seems to me Lingon is under active development; the current version 3 is available in the AppStore along with the previous version 2. Both cost a few dollars and receive very mixed reviews. I personally use Lingon 3 with some success, but would not recommend it for the purpose in this article over other tools mentioned in other answers (cron, at, etc.).

comment Mac OS X sysctl get total and free memory size
the grep doesn't seem required - on my MacBook Pro, sysctl hw.memsize also works and prints hw.memsize: 8589934592

Sorry it took me so long to get back to this. The command line is not very spectacular:

comment How to open a TrueCrypt volume quickly on a Mac?
The --mount parameter doesn't even seem required. Also, /Applications/TrueCrypt.app/Contents/MacOS/TrueCrypt --dismount <path-to-your-TC-archive> dismounts the volume. Stored both apps in ~/bin (/usr/local/bin or /Applications/... would be system-wide alternatives), duplicated them (i.e. created a symlink), moved the duplicate / symlink to the desktop and gave it some nice icons.
