comment Refreshing user's group membership in active directory without log-off/log-on
You can also run whoami /groups to see if your session knows about the new group membership.

This works amazingly well. After doing it, you may need to run your logon script again to map your drives.

comment Internet Explorer 9 will not accept cookies from Intranet sites?
Thanks, that sounded promising. I tried adding the URL to the list of websites in the Advanced dialog, but it has not made a difference.

The last option worked for me. Could you move it to a new answer, so that it can be voted for, independent of the other options?

comment Windows 7 Alt+Tab transparent windows effect delay
In Windows 7, simply turning off "Enable Aero Peek" in the "System" / "Advanced System Settings" / "Performance Options" dialog works well, and doesn't require you to restart Explorer.

comment How do I set up a hotkey or shortcut to rotate my screen in Windows?
The version there today (Version 1.2 (build 14)) does have an option to specify which monitor to rotate: display /device 2 /rotate 90

comment Is there a way to “disconnect” a mapped network drive, but NOT remove the mapping?
Looks interesting... I'll have to try this. Love the use of bitwise math in the batch file!

Thanks for the answer. I would do this, but some of the drives need different id/pw authentications, and I don't want to put those into a script.

Finally able to try it. Unfortunately, this seems to mimic Net use /delete as @Rik guessed. I don't see a difference, as far as network drives are concerned.

Powershell 4.0 was released a couple of weeks ago... technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh847820.aspx

Sounded very promising, but doesn't work for me. If I do net use y: ...., then start PowerShell and do get-psdrive, I see Y listed. Doing remove-psdrive -Name Y removes it. But then a net use still shows it, and I can still use the Y: drive. (That was using PS v2. Apparently works with v4.)
