comment Tracking down the cause of loss of network connectivity
Wireshark seems to give a lot of output. What would I be looking for to help with this sort of thing. I can see the ping packets, and I can see the responses (or lack of responses), but I already knew that. Trying out inSSIDer

comment How can I adjust only the vertical mouse sensitivity in Windows?
This sounds more like a defect that warrants at least contacting there tech support, if not replacement/refund. Why try to work around the problem? Even if you find a way to boost the vertical sensitivity you would be loosing a lot of resolution on that axis if its a hardware issue (and if it is a software/config issue such as you previously turning down the vertical sensitivity somehow, there tech support should direct you to the right option).

comment Executing a c operating system inside VMWorkstation
The same as you would if that ISO was actually a physics disk in a physical machine being booted by a "real" BIOS, so all the materials regarding that should still apply to basic stuff in the VM (and likewise once/if you install to disk, physical or virtually, so boot sectors etc etc).

Added a comparison picture of the connector. Do you think those pins are fine and its just the crimper I need to replace?

Going by the description pretty sure I am fine on the types since it seems to imply the spacing is different such it wouldn't fit at all (and they look the same as some of my old connectors that I had no issues with some years back)? Well you can just about see in the picture that some of the pins just pushed in, but others did not at all (I assume thats what you mean by uneven?), the end one in the side pic is such a pin, the reason I am not sure its (at least entirely) the crimp tool is the pins do look a lot thinner/flimsy than my old ones (added a side by side picture)

Pretty sure its stranded connector, added another image.

Managed a clear side image, its the 2nd variety of stranded connector you have there, the 2 teeth are just up against the insulation of the nearest pin, it didn't penetrate.

I managed to get a fairly clear side picture. The closest pin is one that bent to the side, the wire is clearly past the 2 little teeth at least?

Added a picture. It seems to be similar with each prong being about as wide as the gap? Could it be on the connectors they made the things so thin it can slip between the plastic and tool?

yeah, noticed that i did that when remaking it again (my 1m cable is getting short...). Would it result in this though? I can try again but thinking 5th time wont be lucky...
