comment Acer Aspire 9300 - Windows 7 Drivers Needed
I tried running in compatibility mode but it didn't work. I knew it would take some hacking, but I' not sure I know exactly how to do that... I found the INF file, but not sure what to do with it?

Yes, and it doesn't. In the Display options, I can't get it to recognize either.

comment Is it possible to use a laptop as a “router”, using an old hub and connecting other devices to a wifi laptop?
What about this line: "Is this possible? I'm using Windows 7 64bits and Debian Lenny 5.0.5." From the original question. The PS3 is one device, media center another, and the two OSes mentioned are Windows 7 and Debian... Plus the question mentions "pc."

comment If I add something to cron as a weekly job, will it not run unless my computer is on at that very exact time?
You will need to keep the machine running in order for the job to be run...

comment Open Multiple Instances of Outlook 2007 Simultaneously with Google Apps Sync
Yah, I agree... It's a bummer, because I like both Outlook AND Google mail. They just don't integrate all that well right now. I may have to settle with just keeping some browser windows open if I need more than one email account open. Thanks!

It allowed me to opened multiple Outlook windows but they are of the same instance. For example, I can't open multiple instances, each with a different email account.

comment Is it possible to underclock ram
For Windows? I know you can use parameters at boot to tell GRUB to use less RAM in Linux... Perhaps there's a way to do it with Windows too.

Looks like a great reference. This may be a good investment, certainly if I can find one used.

comment Ubuntu 9.10 Only Sees 244 MB RAM, while BIOS and Windows Sees 1.5 GB
Yes, got this eventually. Thanks. Did you see the other part of the question? The last EDIT? It seems something is preventing my system from using more than 256MB RAM.

I also found this quote from faqs.org/docs/Linux-HOWTO/BootPrompt-HOWTO.html#ss2.4 "In some cases, the memory reported via e820 can also be wrong, and so the mem=exactmap was added." It looks like I can use mem=1500m and see what happens. Literature says if I specify more memory than I have, bad things will happen. What kind of things? Can I reboot without the mem= parameter and get back to where I was?

Why would the BIOS map tell me this, even though when I launch the BIOS with F2 on start-up, and scroll to memory, it shows all of it: 1536 MB ? I will look into the kernel tweak... How would I "fix" the BIOS? Would this require updating the firmware (flashing it)? Thanks.

comment How To: Transfer Categories in Outlook 2007 from One Installation to Another Using Google Sync
Looks like you are right. I did a test and saved a PST file and opened it up, and the categories were there... This still doesn't really solve my original problem, though: I need to use Google Sync for mail. What I can do is export PST, bring it into a new installation that has been synched already, and then copy messages over with the categories. The only problem, however, is that I will have duplicates of my messages. Errgh... Not quite what I was looking for.

I just made some edits to the question, as well as added the dmesg and hwinfo --short bits to pastebin. Thanks for the help.

Knoppix boot revealed the 255 MB total memory, but, no, I didn't run the memtest from Knoppix. @MarkM, thx for the FYI, Ubuntu 9.10...

yah, already ran it... right at the top it reads MemtTotal 250064 kb. I'm on another system right now, and that system is updating... I will paste later.
