comment Where to find the .bashrc file on Mac OS X Snow Leopard and Lion?
@elgrego , here's a good description: When a file is sourced (by typing either source filename or . filename at the command line), the lines of code in the file are executed as if they were printed at the command line. See tldp.org/HOWTO/Bash-Prompt-HOWTO/x237.html

comment Windows 10 Child account problems
My recollection with 8.1 is that you could set various levels of blocking set, this seems to be gone now. Yes this has been removed, as have many of the other features that you mentioned. Microsoft sent a letter about some of these changes, and you can read one example here: winsupersite.com/windows/…

comment Is it possible to give a microsoft child account administrator rights?
You cannot do what you need with Microsoft Family (Formerly known as Family Safety). To set time limits for a Windows account which also has enough privileges to install software, you will need to search for third party software.

For individual users, it's best to add these customizations to your home directory at ~/.bashrc , not /etc/bashrc. /etc/bashrc are the global settings for all users on your system, which probably isn't what you want. Also, Apple may come along and change /etc/bashrc periodically, which might blow away your customizations.

comment Windows Live Family Safety: how to specify click-through permissions
I've had the same question in regards to Minecraft sites. I don't mind the Minecraft videos, but at the end of every Video, YouTube shows a list of 'Related Content' which includes videos for older people including some R-rated and adult-themed content. I haven't been able to resolve this using Life Family Safety, and I've asked on the forums: Windows family safety: How to allow a website without allowing embedded YouTube videos?

Optionally, see if you can disable the IPMI/BMC within the BIOS. It might be called IPMI, BMC or OpenManage.
