I have been programming Video Games since I was a teenager in the 1980's and it's been my full-time job since the early 90's. I currently work on the Mortal Kombat Team at WB Games Chicago (our studio was Midway Games Chicago until WB Games purchased it in the summer of 2009). You can find me on facebook as well. Additionally I have an e-mail account at that well-known Google-Mail address with the same user name as on here.

comment How to force the first frame to be key-frame?
The first frame doesn't have to be an I-Frame (KeyFrame), it can be a B-Frame (dependent on future frames, one of which is likely to be an I-Frame).

Do you have write caching on? I'm talking actual raw numbers running a disk benchmark program using write with verify.

Well, it's certainly something that affects BATCH programming. I'm not even sure how to move it to a different StackExchange site :-(

Ah... short file names... you bite me in the butt. Thanks John. BTW, I wonder who downvoted this. It's a legitimate question.

comment Multithreaded Windows FOR batch command
This is a naive approach and as you mention is probably not desireable. You only want to launch as many processes as you have cores. If you have 4 cores and 1,000 files, you really want to process only 4 at a time until all 1,000 are processed. If you try to process all 1,000 at once on 4 cores, your computer will slow to a useless crawl.

comment Should I install Windows 7 on a 3 years old PC?
FWIW, Windows 7 32-bit will only see 3GB of RAM (3.5GB on certain MB but that's more rare and depends on both the MB and any cards installed such as the Graphics card). Upgrading to more than 3GB RAM on a 32-bit machine is a waste of $$$.

comment Very slow copying files on a SD-memory card
@Phoshi: Vista can be slow starting to copy on local drives as well if there is a large number of files. In this case though, it seems as if there is a large amount of data but a relatively small number of files so that should not be the case.

Can you tell me what is the speed of the SD card. It should say "*X" or "Class *" (where * is a number) on the SD card if the speed is rated.
