Struggling to fuse faith, lifehacks, ministry, friends, and family into one ain't easy… No wonder I'm no good at it.

Ah, I had missed in all my excitement that Apple had added support for Target Disk Mode to thunderbolt. I don't have a thunderbolt cable but if I did this one would surely take the cake, especially given the transfer speeds I could see.

Yes. All forms of disk checking check out. fsck in single user mode, disk utility permissions and disk verification in recovery mode, etc. I haven't started in Verbose Mode because I don't know how to interpret the output. This has been the symptoms on other occasions like this. I'm even more nervous this time though because firmware got installed moments before the machine failed to boot.

Thanks for the response! This isn't really very close to what I'm hoping for. The reason this comes up for me is that I have something like ag or grep that colorizes it's output. When I read through code in the terminal, it's really helpful to be able to make quick selections with the mouse to add in visual anchor points for what I'm currently reading/already read. But in iTerm2, the selection is always a flat color, without preserving the colors beneath the selection. That's why I want the reverse video effect.
