comment How to test a power supply?
@pbhj A resistance of high enough wattage and value so that it does not burn out, and the value low enough to draw a meaningful amount of current.

comment My USB says it has 15.7GB of space used but inside all the folders are empty
A simple "check file system for errors", with both options checked,(drive properties) creates folders with the name found.000, which contain all the lost files. The folder created is hidden, so make sure you have hidden files and folders displayed.

comment ADSL connection (BSNL dataone) with puppy Linux
The same works with Window XP with the same modem, as indicated in the OP itself. This is not likely to be an issue.

comment What search utilities can search by file name in Windows 7?
a +1, The syntax becomes second nature once you get used to it, and built in solutions are always preferable.

comment Strange issue in Running an application with remote desktop on Windows XP
Thanks. However, I am more interested in knowing WHY that happens, rather than alternatives to what I already have. I will check the alternate suggested, however. But if the server system needs to have this installed, then no dice, as this is not something that can be controlled.

@danielBeck, so what do you recommend when a quick "change and test" is required to the code when you notice something in a lab 3 stories above? This is a cross compiler for an embedded application: specifically "CodeWarrior Development studio for Microcontrollers v6.2 coldfireV1 build 081128.

comment Tabbed browsing with internet explorer
Thanks for the tip. The problem has been solved using the event viewer. I observed that every time I tried closing the tab, the family safety service from windows live essentials threw an error. An uninstall to the family safety nailed the issue. I shall award you the bounty, but request you to please include this information in an edit to your answer.
