i dont have that option checked, but LF is still showing. If i toggle the option, i get LF and CR, if i turn it off again, im back to just LF at the end of the lines. is this a bug?

comment Some Chrome Extension Redirects me to Malicious Sites When Amazon.com is Accessed
i think i have found the culprit, there is code in the chrome extension "Fabulous for Facebook" that redirects the browser when visiting amazon, just like in the OP.

In windows, unless you hold the CTRL key while dragging and dropping the ICS file, nothing happens

@roetzi thanks for the tip, the holding CTRL while dragging trick worked for me, if you just drag it without holding the CTRL button it doesnt work. This is quite infuriating, I cant understand why the calendar add-on can't just handle double clicking ICS files to open them, surely it cant be that hard. I've added a suggested edit to the original answer, to add the CTRL key tip

comment why is my computer connecting to skynet? is it a virus or other type of malware?
damn, tried checking the system out with super anti spyware again from the bootcd, and the rootkit is back again, talk about stubborn... its called Rootkit.Unclassified/USBHubB im starting to think reformatting the disk might be the only way to get rid of it...

oops slightly embarrasing, i had actually renamed my router "skynet", but had forgotten all about it. doh! so it wasnt the rootkit that made that entry to the registry after all. must have just been a coincidence, its a good job i had forgotten naming the router skynet, otherwise i probably wouldnt have further investigated the problem. i guess with rootrepeal, the special sauce is in creating a log file, and posting it to a relevant forum, and getting help there, as it doesnt seem to have any automated fixing function. i will give it a try.
