Started programming when I was 7 years old (Basic on C64, then Assembler, later C/C++, and now mostly Java).
First Windows experience: ca 1993 (Win 3.11)
First Unix experience: 1998 (Solaris, then SuSE Linux, now mostly Debian/Ubuntu and MacOS).
I'm just as much interested in technical things, as in social topics, and economics. It really depends.

MacBookPro RAM: CL7 or CL9 @Cawas: 9 clock cycles at 1333 MHz take approximately as long as 7 clock cycles at 1066 MHz. The only question is: Does the computer allow a CL7 setting, or is it too overcautious? |

Manual Duplex printing for Mac (and/or Linux) Thanks - however, I just tried it, and it didn't work: It printed all my pages, then showed the dialog to turn over the paper nicely, and then it printed all the pages once again... the project is still in an early stage, and I assume, this problem will be resolved. Thanks for the link! (+1) |

Manual Duplex printing for Mac (and/or Linux) This sounds phantastic - I will check it out next week. If you continue the project (please!), I'd be glad to do some testing with my printers, as long as you can give me instructions how to do it (I have a Kyocera Mita laser + a Canon inkjet. They handle the paper differently.) In the past, I had always used tools like TurboPrint Professional (on the Amiga!) or FinePrint Professional, or the Windows printer drivers - where most actually have this advantage over Mac/Linux :-( Our OS need such a tool - GUI integration would be great, but let's start with the basic functionality! |

MacBookPro RAM: CL7 or CL9 Just wanted to add, that I eventually bought the "1333 CL9", and it runs fine at 1066 MHz. Don't know with which CL setting (probably CL7). Also not sure, if dual channel is on or off now (probably off). |

I just installed it (it's even in the Ubuntu Repository BTW :-), and it already looks quite promising: I like its interface, and it produces very clean HTML. The split view is practical, too. It even seems to handle long files pretty well. |
