I am a computer and video-game enthusiast. I also like reading (mostly fantasy and science fiction). I enjoy good TV and movies too, which is of course subjective.

comment Can I unsubscribe from email chains in Outlook?
Odd, the version of Outlook 2007 my employer uses doesn't have the ribbon interface in the main app window, although child windows (for emails, tasks, meetings etc) all have it. I can't seem to locate any method to active the Ignore feature in the standard menu bar or the email window either. But as Microsoft's sites confirm it should exist in 2007, your answer is accepted.

comment How to know your built-in webcam specification and functionalities (security related)?
this doesn't really answer your question, but if you're worried about someone hacking your computer and spying on you with your webcam then use some masking tape to cover the camera lens. it'll come off easily when you want to use the camera and you can reapply it when not.

comment create a LAN with wireless uplink
doesn't the router on LAN-B function as a NAT firewall? if so than all you're really looking for is a router or access point that can operate in bridge mode for LAN-A, right?

comment CPU and RAM MHz Riddle
@Ivp the mention of fire was purely a worst case consideration. Computer components are usually pretty good at sacrificing themselves before a short circuit would build to the point of causing something like a fire.

comment Linux equivalent of Windows Registry
saying that part of the Windows philosophy is to be obstructive doesn't seem particularly accurate. while it is true that MS does not allow free access to the Windows source code they (generally) do not attempt to block users or developers from using Windows as they want.

comment Laptop shuts down in an instant, no crash log, no overheating
if you remove the battery does the laptop still behave erratically? it seems odd that the battery would cause this behavior and i would bet that there is an issue with the power and/or charging circuits

perhaps not your first choice, but can you install a cheap video card and an optical drive? also, depending on the age of your Server you might need to first confirm that it meets the minimum requirements listed here
