comment Blurry white streaks on CRT monitor - what could the cause be?
@DanielRHicks Thanks for the response. I don't own an oscilloscope though and it looks like a "basic" model starts at around Rs. 35000 (~$650), definitely outside my budget for this work. If that or getting a professional look into it are the only options I might have to give up on this one for now.

Haha. Yes, old memories kicked in and I did degauss it a few times, didn't help at all.

comment SSH: The authenticity of host <host> can't be established
@BenVoigt Yeah, I understand that, the truly paranoid would of course get to those pages through a different unrelated network, or maybe fly to github headquarters and get the fingerprint in person :)

comment SSH: The authenticity of host <host> can't be established
"If you're paranoid, verify the checksum/fingerprint of the key using an alternate channel." For the paranoid (and for the record), github's fingerprint is on help.github.com/articles/generating-ssh-keys and bitbucket's is mentioned in confluence.atlassian.com/display/BITBUCKET/…

comment Utility to non-destructively fold or re-indent HTML
@kine I found the answer here: stackoverflow.com/questions/7151180/… especially the second comment on the answer. Running it with that config (along with input-xml yes and force-output yes) indents it mostly non-destructively - "mostly" because it still makes changes in HTML character entities, I guess you have to hunt down and change that option too if that's a problem to you.

comment Dependency problems due to conflicts when installing Ubuntu Mini
@terdon I've answered the 32bit-64bit question in the previous comment, but for now I disabled "Manual package selection" in the installer and so avoided this problem, but I'm not sure if it'll come up again if I try to use apt-get after installation.

comment Dependency problems due to conflicts when installing Ubuntu Mini
I'm installing the 64 bit version of 13.04 from help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/MinimalCD, and have given the guest OS as "Ubuntu 64" in VirtualBox. Is there a setting elsewhere to set it as a 64 bit VM?
