comment How to troubleshoot an xcopy crash
You could try performing the copy using TeraCopy, it lists all the files it tries to copy along with any associated error messages that show up in the process.

comment Recovering images after formatted HDD & new OS install
Very true, this is commercial software; didn't realize they'd started charging as a subscription, last time I used it you only paid a one-time fee for a Pro license.

comment HP dv7t Quad Ed laptop hangs SOMETIMES when I put it into sleep mode (Win7 x64)
Have you already updated to the latest available drivers? There should be a program named HP Update or similar which will enable the laptop to grab the latest from HP's support site and install it.

comment My PC became slow
Once I had a problem where my system kept choking, it would freeze for like 3-20 seconds or so, then keep chugging for a while, then repeat. I figure it was the hard drive stalling, trying and retrying to read data off damaged areas of the disk surface. It turned out to be a failing drive too and I replaced it, then all was well. Glad you caught it before you lost your vital data!

Aha, this could indicate that the hard drive is failing, or that you may need to allocate more space to your swap file. I'd say first of all try running a tool like ActiveSMART to see whether the hard drive may be in danger of failing, then check out the swap file info and see if tweaking it helps (this error can also come up if the swap file isn't big enough).

comment No image from graphics card but image from onboard video
If you're running Windows, boot into Safe Mode and set the screen resolution for the graphics card down to the lowest (640x480), then boot back into normal mode and try increasing the resolution. It may be that the default resolution is set too high for the video to display.

comment Why does my printer stop printing after a few lines and then eject the paper?
Have you tried replacing the printer cable, in case some electrical interference may be corrupting the document data on its way to the printer?

comment 2GB limit on 32bit operating systems
FWIW, 32-bit Windows normally can't access the full 4 GB with that much RAM installed, but some applications (e.g. Gavotte RAMDisk) can implement PAE to utilize that last chunk of memory.

I'd suggest scanning with a tool like Microsoft Security Essentials or Malwarebytes or SpyBot to see whether there may be any malware slowing things down. Even though you already have Avira, a single tool can miss things that others will catch. Also, open Event Viewer (you can click Start => Run and type "eventvwr" and hit Enter) and look in the System and Application logs for any errors or warnings; something there might reveal a hardware or software or Windows problem that could be in part responsible for the slowness.

"System Restore does not affect personal files, such as e-mail, documents, or photos, so it cannot help you restore a deleted file. If you have backups of your files, you can restore the files from a backup." - Microsoft's FAQ on System Restore (this one is specific to Vista but also applies to XP)

comment Realtek PCIe FE Losing Connectivity in Win 7 Home 64-bit
Forgive me if I missed you saying you tried this already, but is replacing the RealTek card with a different brand an alternative you're willing to explore? I've encountered some issues with RealTek network and sound cards that have made it become one of my personal blacklisted brands.
