Sadly, I’ve become soured by the SE network. It started great, but went downhill. Some mods are too aggressive/bias, policies are arbitrarily/capriciously/selectively applied, and some users treat the sites as MMOGs, “rep-whoring”, copying others’ work, and posting random guesses to game the system by abusing and exploiting auto-bounty assignment.

I care(d) about the integrity of the site, so I feel anywhere that allows such disreputable behavior isn’t somewhere worth staying. My OCD not withstanding, I won’t be contributing much here anymore and will find somewhere else to help people. I apologize to all of the people I would have helped here in the future.

Images
As a visual-learner, I often add images to my posts to make them more effective. Sometimes I take photos, sometimes I create them with software, sometimes I find them through Google Images or WikiPedia.

Mod
I’ve been asked hey bro, y u no b mod? get u POWR! impr0ve site. I had considered it and was even tempted to run a few times, but I just have too much to do already, so I can’t take on that kind of commitment when I know I won’t be able to do as good a job as I’d demand. Besides, as the behavior of the other mods became more and more apparent, I realized that it would be pointless.

Did you read the answer I already? I had already figured it out, explained the reason for the problem, and posted it in case other people have the same issue.

Doesn't Win7 allow you to check the option to 'Remember each folder's view settings check box under the Advanced settings menu on the View tab of Folder Options in Control Panel'? @shub, no, that option is present in XP, but not Windows 7.

comment Is there a way to use Windows 3.11 in Virtual box with more than 256 colors?
You’d have to request the VM devs to provide compatible virtual adapters and drivers. Unfortunately, they just don’t support the older OSes that well. For example, I had to try numerous combinations of VM software and Windows versions to find one that would let me play my old copy of DarkSeed 2 with full color and sound. The only combination that ended up working was Windows ME in VirtualBox. Every other combination I tried had some sort of problem. ಠ_ಠ

comment Change Windows 7 Explorer's Details Pane limits
@IstvánZachar, that’s because it only affects running more than 15 files, not showing information about more than 15 files as the OP was asking about. (I really don’t know what the heck the four people who up-voted this answer were thinking since it obviously doesn’t work. This is a good example of how meaningless votes are since people obviously do it randomly for whatever looks good.)

comment How to deactivate Ease of Access in window in Windows 7
Where did you find “use computer without mouse or keyboard”? That is not part of the Ease of Access applet (or Windows for that matter). Is it a laptop-specific feature? Did you ever fix it?

comment How to add Programs in “Ease of access ”?
What do you mean by add to Ease of Access? Do you mean in the Ease of Access folder in the Start menu? If so, then you should be able to simply drag-and-drop some shortcuts in there. If you mean in the Control Panel applet, then I highly doubt it is possible without hacking Windows since they completely changed how the Control Panel works in Vista+.

comment Prevent Security Essentials from creating a system restore point before definition update?
@techie007, then all software should do that. Like that other person said, does Microsoft not trust its own software? Do they not test anything before releasing it? Turning System Restore off altogether is not the solution. This problem is not with SR, it is with Security Essentials. They can easily set it to enabled by default and provide an option for advanced users to turn it off for whatever reason. There is no reason to deny flexibility. Also, switching to another AV provider isn’t exactly a choice; MS tries very hard to keep people using S.E.

@CharlieRB, that doesn’t make it okay to force it on everybody without the choice to opt out. Microsoft does not know the circumstances for every single system in the world and cannot make a universal blanket rule, especially when it would be so easy to fix by setting it enabled as the default and allowing advanced users to turn if off.

@Ramhound, whether you personally like it or not is not relevant, there should be an option to use it or not.
