comment Windows 7 front panel audio, without bloatware?
+1, I agree with that (although driver != systray bloatware). However, even if I install it, is "disable front panel jack detection" the only option? It's the only one I can find, and, it's not pretty. If I leave that disabled, front panel jack detection never seems to work (I plug in headphones but nothing happens). Is it supposed to work? I could not get that to work on my previous machine either.

comment Why does rm -rf not yield an error?
@nixomose unless -f is specified :). The point is that you can specify multiple files on the command line. If any one of them is missing and you didn't pass -f, you get an error. If you do pass -f, any errors related to files are suppressed.

comment Run VirtualBox in background, without a window
You mean connect via SSH to the linux guest? You can do this very easily with QEMU which will actually run the guest in your terminal.

comment Can I use only a HDMI monitor?
@kbyrd I know, I'm on SO, too. It's just that less than 5 minutes since I had asked my question had passed and I couldn't accept it at the time. I accepted it now (and hey, look, because I dragged my feet it got more upvotes! :)

Thank you! Yes, my graphics card (HIS Radeon HD 4670 / 1GB DDR3) has native HDMI and, what's very cool about this card, is that it has a builtin soundcard, so you don't need to connect it internally to a separate soundcard or to the motherboard, you just pick its soundcard in the configuration of your OS.
