comment How can I trace/profile a process in Windows?
@Moab - AFAIK Process Explorer can load the public symbols from the MS symbol server and show the current call stack but has no capabilities to log calls over time?

I'm familiar with procmon. That traces file access, registry access etc. I am trying to trace the path of execution.

+1 that will come in useful.

Google desktop search indexes web pages you visit. I find the quality of the cached pages somewhat hit and miss though and its no where near as seamless as just using your browser history - Can be useful for retrieving snippets of information though.

comment Windows 7 - Opening files from Windows Explorer with Elevated Permissions?
That's a shame I was sure that there would be some straight forward work around that would allow me to continue to use the paradigm for working with files that I'm used to. It seems not then!

Yes this is the workflow I give in the question. I'm asking for alternatives.

Only way I can imagine that anything like this could have ever existed would be by sending an HTML email with a tracker image and geolocating by IP address. Most mail clients block remote HTML resources now for privacy reasons so that scheme would be dead in the water.

comment Using excel, how can I count the number of cells in a column containing the text “true” or “false”?
Doesn't work for me. Returns 0.

comment Using excel, how can I count the number of cells in a column containing the text “true” or “false”?
It seems that =COUNTIF(G1,">=true") and =COUNTIF(G1,"<=true") always return 0 for any possible input from CHAR(1) to CHAR(255) so whatever it is being converted to seems completely incomparable. It seems to be acting like a NULL comparison in a database would.

For what it's worth I've changed my mind on this. I guess Excel formulae could be considered a kind of declarative programming language. I don't think it is Turing complete without the use of VBA but then neither are regular expressions - which are deemed acceptable by the SO community!

Hmm I can see the frustration. COUNTIF(A2,">=trud") and COUNTIF(A2,"<=truf") both work. COUNTIF(A2,A2) and any conceivable variant doesn't!
