comment What are the differences of watching a 1080p and a 720p version of the same media on a 720p screen?
Actually, a 16:9 screen with 40" diagonal will be about 34.9" x 19.6", thus 1080 would be about 56 ppi, and 720 about 37 ppi.

comment Is there any good desktop/application or command line tool to show two different timezone concurrently?
NB: You should have used London rather than Greenwich Mean Time. Given that the United Kingdom uses Daylight Saving Time, they are not always the same!

comment How can computers figure out the current minute, but not hour/year?
@kojiro: It's probably showing correct UTC, as per MSalters's answer.

Strictly speaking, you need knowledge of your current time zone to get the minute right as well. Not all time zones are offset by a whole number of hours to UTC/GMT - some like India are at xx:30; a few at xx:45.

comment Three 1920x1200 monitors
Not sure why this is closed. It clearly relates to "computer software or computer hardware", and while it mentions games, it's not about them.

comment How is http://d§.cc/ a valid URL?
I assume this means I couldn't have registered d§.cc if someone had already registered xn--d-jca.cc?

One double-layer or two single layer.

Pretty sure this is relevant to Vista and XP as well. Possibly even older versions, although I assume the sound itself has changed.

comment Monitors - inches vs resolution
@rob, my maths says the pixels are more like 0.3mm (300 microns), or 0.1mm per R/G/B element.

comment Adobe Illustrator CS5 64 bit on Windows
I think you've misread 'AI CS5' (Adobe Illustrator) as 'All CS5 [applications]' in the Adobe thread.

comment Is there a difference between b&w and color printing when the document is black and white anyway?
Didn't realise it was that much. Still, with a multiple-pass printer it's going to be a much bigger difference.

comment Recommend backup software that will do true incremental backups of very large files
Syncback does incremental file level backups, not block-level backups.

comment How to output folder hierarchy from Sharepoint
I think the question is about the underlying folder structure of the install, not folders within libraries.

comment How to launch VMWare Server?
Hmmm, I get a zero-length file when I do this, looks like the file is not actually included in the Server distribution.

Except Gmail automatically deletes automated responses to mail you send to the list. This seems to include some subscription confirmation challenges (e.g. those sent by Mailman software) so you can't reply and thus can't subscribe.

comment How can browsers in VMs resolve hostnames of websites on parent PC?
Thanks but I'd like it all running on the one PC - a laptop - so I'm not tied to a single location.

comment How can browsers in VMs resolve hostnames of websites on parent PC?
Many thanks for this. It does seem a bit more work than I had anticipated. I think I will probably use host files for now and investigate the options you have suggested at a later time.

comment Any web designers here made a transition from Photoshop to Gimp?
@LiraNuna - liked the comment "Trying to get data out of a PSD file is like trying to find something in the attic of your eccentric old uncle who died in a freak freshwater shark attack on his 58th birthday."
