comment How do I install the 32-bit dynamic linker on 64-bit NixOS?
@ssnobody regarding your question "what are you trying to do [...] that you are not able to do now": With a 32-bit dynamic linker, I can execute dynamically linked 32-bit executables.

comment How do I install the 32-bit dynamic linker on 64-bit NixOS?
@ssnobody, sorry, I should have said "dynamic linker", but I think "runtime" makes more sense. The file is called /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 for 64-bit executables and /lib/ld-linux.so.2 for 32-bit. I confirmed this by compiling a sample C program with and without -m32 and then running ldd on it.

comment How do I install the 32-bit dynamic linker on 64-bit NixOS?
thank you, but these instructions are specific to the Android SDK. my primary interest is how to install the 32-bit runtime linker, because that would probably be useful in the future also.

comment How do I install the 32-bit dynamic linker on 64-bit NixOS?
you're not answering the actual question... this issue is systematic of NixOS, it's not just about the Android SDK

comment How are pseudorandom and truly random numbers different and why does it matter?
Besides the point, I know, but get_generator = lambda: itertools.cycle(range(1,7)), generator = get_generator(), next(generator) # and so on is just too elegant not to mention :)

comment Software for web filtering and blocking certain sites
DNS filtering is too coarse-grained. For example, there is ASCII porn on textfiles.com. Now, do you block textfiles.com or not?

comment Serving Java web application with Windows Server
You can use jFastCGI to have IIS communicate with the servlet through FastCGI. Or you can use just plain Java and FastCGI (no servlets).

comment difference between md5 and iso
Yes, for checksumming it's great. But you specifically mentioned tampering. Which is the situation where you need exactly the security goal integrity, which MD5 does not provide since is it feasible to construct collisions.

comment difference between md5 and iso
It is misleading to mention MD5 as suitable for verifying the integrity (using the PKI definition), since it is broken.
