I use Apple hardware and Mac OS X since the age of dawn but work doing Android development using Eclipse Intellij-IDEA. Used to be a .NET/C# guy.

I do some Objective-C when time permits (never lately) and always experiment in Xcode when it's not crashing.

Contrary to popular belief, I am not The Crow like my picture might suggest :)

I have lived in the sunny Spain near Madrid for over eleven years, but now I live in San Francisco, CA.

I'm currently working for 8tracks.com where I do mobile development.

comment Visual Studio: significant performance difference on VMware Fusion vs Bootcamp?
I’ve never used bootcamp with either VMware or Parallels, but I understand that each will install the tools. What happens if you boot natively on boot camp? won’t the tools “bother” ?

Fusion 3 will see all your cores. Tho Parallels 5 has proven to be considerably faster on my Mac Pro with 8 cores and 10gb. Visual Studio 2008 compiles faster and GDI+ is noticeably faster than under VMware 3. For what is worth, I’ve been using both products since their initial releases. Last year and a half I used VMware 2.x over Parallels. I think that I’m going back to parallels. Feels less buggy this time. (VMware + Unity + Expose == fail, try it).

comment VMWare Fusion - Running Windows Natively From A Bootcamp Partition on OS X
I have to say that VMware 3 (which I own) and Parallels 5 (which I’ve been trying for the next 12 remaining days), are on par with the number of bugs. I’d say VMware 3 actually has more issues than Parallels 5. That’s my experience after using vmware3 since launch and suddenly downloading parallels trial and importing my vms. I see more issues with vmware. I use Visual Studio 2008, Vista, XP and SQL 2008 primarly. Also Ubuntu 9.10 works “out of the box” with Parallels (even compiz and such). Under VMware I had sound/video issues and tools were a PITA. VMware 2 vs Parallels 4< was different.

comment Has anyone else had problems with VMware Fusion 3 and Spaces?
I suggest you visit VMware forums to see if there’s anything else there. I’ve had good experiences with that. If not, you’ll have to either revert to 2.06, wait for a patch or change your habits ;) Or give Parallels 5 a try. I am doing that and contrary to previous versions, Parallels 5 is running circles around VMware 3 in my Mac Pro. (even with converted VMs from VMware, which should be “worse”). There’s a trial.

Same here. The animation is annoying :)

comment Windows 7 Upgrade versus Full Version
The fact that it’s a VM doesn’t change the licensing issue nor the fact that if it’s a upgrade, you’ll need either an “old” VM with the “old” OS you want to upgrade or the media to prove that you’re a legit user.

You might also want to take a look at SizeUp, it’s very useful for moving windows between screens and spaces with the keyboard: irradiatedsoftware.com/sizeup
