comment Tweetdeck: Is wyUpdate safe?
Based on the TweetDeck release notes for v2.0.1 which mentions wyUpdate by name, I'd conclude that yes, it is legitimate.

comment partitioning problem: windows occupies 2 partitions
I once had my computer quad-booting (XP, Vista, 7 RC, Linux) on one disk. With an extended partition, doing such a thing is quite easy.

comment Upgrading Windows 7 Ultimate to Windows 8 Pro: What features am I going to lose?
I had to uninstall (completely) and then reinstall my AMD drivers for my graphics card before that worked properly after upgrading 7 Pro to 8 Pro. But otherwise, drivers aren't really an issue when updating.

comment Windows 8 doesn't boot up, only black screen and cursor
@spexygeek It's always best to include as much information as possible so that we can help you better and not waste time suggesting things you've already tried. But thanks for the clarification.

I'll add additional info. I don't know what you tried, but there are other things that are available before you'd need to resort to reinstalling.

comment Live Tiles on Windows 8 seems to be crashing
It's very possible that something messed up your installation. I would make sure you get a backup of all your important data and, if you can't find an elegant solution, be ready to take the more drastic step of reinstalling or at least doing a reset that doesn't save your data... Unfortunately I don't have a better solution than this. It might depend on what exactly happened, here. More information (like any errors you can find in the Event Viewer that may be related), and what you did between when it worked and when things started breaking would help.

comment Is it possible to display the Administrative tools as Tiles?
@SilverbackNet Ah, yes. The Settings menu from the Charms bar is context-sensitive, depending on what Metro app is open (or if you're on the Desktop).

comment How can I get the MAC address from my stolen laptop so the police can trace it?
They may use colons but sometimes I've seen MAC addresses use dashes instead (-).

comment Is it possible to display the Administrative tools as Tiles?
@SilverbackNet You have to click Settings and then you can see Tiles.

comment Extended desktops with 3 or more displays in Windows 8?
The HDMI and DVI outputs both share the same display out, so unfortunately that won't be possible.

comment How can I get Windows 8 to automatically disable touch when I am using my Wacom pen and turn it back on when I am not
@Robert I believe that the behavior that you described (disabling touch when the pen is in proximity) is exactly what I experienced when I used it. I'll have to dig out my old laptop and test this myself.

comment Get Windows 7 Start Menu Back in Windows 8 RTM
I second this. Make an effort to try and learn it. If after a legitimate effort you simply prefer the older style start menu, then try something like Start8, mentioned above. I use it, but only because the hot corner is difficult to get to on my multimonitor setup, and I still use the start screen.

comment Stop Start Screen on W8 from minimizing on dual screens
I don't think it's a duplicate of that question because that is about spanning the start screen across multiple monitors, while this one is about the behavior of the start screen when it is displayed on one monitor and you do something on the other.

You can still run .exe files in Windows 8, so.... yes.

comment Windows 8 Snap on desktop not working
@houbysoft I updated my answer with the new information. It might explain why your resolution wasn't large enough... you still didn't meet the minimum horizontal resolution.

Thanks, that might be the issue, then. I'll update the answer.

It may be a screen resolution issue, then... I'll update the answer.
